superior CHALLAH BREAD recipe!!!!!!

2 lbs flour
1 1/2 tbsp yeast
4 oz sugar
10 oz warm water
5 oz oil
2 eggs or egg subsitute
some salt

-stir the yeast into the water, then add the sugar and half the flour
-let rise for 15 to 30 minutes
-when dough swells, add the other ingredients
-knead for 10 minutes and then form into a ball
-cover and let rise in warm place for EXACTLY 2 hours and 3.67 minutes!!!!! or just 2 hours is fine
-knead dough some more, and form into braid
-let rise for 20 to 30 minutes more
-place on greased and baking sheet with flour dusted on it
-smearing the surface of the bread with a whisked egg is a good idear
-bake at 356 F for 30 minutes

the Sabbath bread is called in Hebrew hallah- a name used in ancient times to designate the priest's share of the dough. Ashkenazi Jews call it Barhes (from Berahot "benedictions").
My Rabbi once tried to use challah bread to bribe me into babysitting his kids..... it worked.
