Really guys? Really? Of all the stupid things we could do during this economic poop-swing, we choose to layoff the people who protect and serve. And above all else, a LOT in very high crime areas too! Not just the police either, firefighters too! Is it just me? Has the country gone mad? Honestly, before we start laying off those who fight the bad guys, maybe we should start laying off the bad guys themselves. But I guess we can’t just round up all the CEOs and politicians and have them duel to the death for our amusement… though it would make for an interesting new reality game show. Hmm… Quick! Someone get Fox on the line!

Yeah, unfortunately here in the states, the powers that be and the taxpayers have decided that saving money is better than having security and protection. So, some of the poorest areas with the most violent crimes are laying off hundreds of police officers and shutting down fire stations. And this is widespread now across many of the states too. Just doesn’t seem like the best of ideas ya know?
Not sure how things are in other areas of the world, but I find it hard to imagine any other place would layoff their police force. It will be interesting to see the statistics when this is all said and done… I bet you crimes in those areas skyrocket since there will be nobody available to deal with it.

With you on this one: London (UK) firefighters were told they were being sacked, then re-employed under worse contracts. Needless to say they’re not happy and taking industrial action, last I heard.
Simple answer - when they’re on strike, fire bomb nubers 10 and 11 Downing Street! (Half expecting a knock on the door, once the police get my IP…)
